Privacy policy

What data CheckTaJob collects, why, where it is hosted and how to delete it.

Data we collect

To create an account we collect an email address and a password (stored only as a hash, never in clear text). If you sign in with Google, Google sends us your email address and an account identifier, nothing else: no password, contacts or Google data. The applications you track (jobs, stages, history, notes, contacts, interviews, CVs and cover letters saved on a job), the companies you follow, your CV and your preferences are stored on our server so you can reach them from every device and from a connected assistant.

Claude and ChatGPT connector

When you connect CheckTaJob to an AI assistant (Claude by Anthropic, ChatGPT by OpenAI or another MCP client), you authorize it on a CheckTaJob page (OAuth). The assistant can then read your tracked applications and followed companies, add jobs, change their stage, add history events, save CVs and cover letters, and follow or unfollow companies, only when it calls one of these tools during your conversation.

We receive the tool calls and their parameters, never your conversations. What a tool returns is then processed by the assistant's provider under its own privacy policy. We store only what is needed to keep the connection: access tokens valid for one hour, and a refresh token (stored hashed) that expires after 60 days without use.

To disconnect, remove the connector in your assistant's settings. Changing your password or deleting your account also revokes every connector access.

Chrome extension

The CheckTaJob extension runs only on LinkedIn job pages and on checktajob.com. When you click "Import into CheckTaJob" on a LinkedIn job, it reads that page's title, company, description and link and adds them to your tracker. On checktajob.com it reads your session so you can sign in to the extension in one click. It stores your session token in the extension's storage, reads nothing else, and sends data only to CheckTaJob.

Third-party API keys

If you add your own AI provider key (Claude, OpenAI, Groq, OpenRouter) for the in-app analyses, it is stored only in your browser's local storage and the calls go straight from your browser to that provider. Without your own key, the first analyses use our free trial: the text needed (CV, job posting) is then sent through our server to OpenAI.

Purpose

Your data is used only to run the service: sign-in, syncing your tracker, emails you asked for (daily new postings, follow-up reminders, password reset), a few getting-started emails in your first week (with a link to stop them) and the connector. It is never sold or shared for advertising. To improve it, we also record a few usage steps per account: how you heard about us (if you answer), connecting an assistant, the name of the tools it calls (not their parameters), clicks from our emails and on the "Analyze with Claude / ChatGPT" buttons, and, if you join the CheckTaJob Pro waiting list, the plan you picked and your answers to the price survey.

Frontend hosting: Vercel Inc. Backend hosting (accounts, database): Hetzner Online GmbH, Germany. Emails: Resend. Error monitoring (technical data about errors): Sentry. Free-trial AI analyses: OpenAI. Anonymous audience measurement: Vercel Analytics (no tracking cookie). Optional sign-in with Google: Google LLC.

Retention

Your data is kept as long as your account exists. You can delete your account and all its data at any time from Settings → Danger zone, which also cuts off connected assistants, or by contacting us. Daily backups are kept for up to 8 weeks, then erased.

Your rights

You have the right to access, correct and delete your data (GDPR, Quebec's Law 25). In the app: Settings → Your data downloads everything we keep for you, and Settings → Danger zone deletes your account. Cookies

CheckTaJob uses no advertising or tracking cookies. The app uses your browser's local storage to work.
